CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP > CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY > OVERVIEW

A+ | Reset | A-

Corporate Social Responsibility is not something new to the Apeejay Surrendra Group. Our founder Shri Pyare Lal and his sons Jit Paul and Surrendra Paul and their families built the Apeejay Surrendra Group on a firm foundation of business ethics and philanthropy.

A comprehensive Ethics Policy that earmarks business conduct guidelines, adopted many decades ago, is a tangible example of our values, an expression of each employee’s personal responsibility to uphold them, as well as a statement of intent which the internal and external stakeholders have drawn comfort from. By establishing this guide to appropriate business conduct, the Group, Group’s companies and our people acknowledge that our choices and actions help define Apeejay for others who trust the over 100 year old Apeejay Surrendra Brand.

"We must always do good business and the right thing, drawing from our tradition of trust, reliability and fairness. These values are very dear to us and must not be compromised with," - Mr Karan Paul (an excerpt from his first message to employees as Chairman in 2004)

Many decades ago, when Corporate Social Responsibility was not coined and now when it is more definitely understood, the Group and our companies have taken inspiration from Family Values and the firm beliefs on which Apeejay Surrendra Group has been built - that businesses must be socially accountable and growth inclusive. Down the three generations, our corporate responsibility initiatives have resonated Family Values, remained steadfast, strategic & committed. Such an approach has progressively embedded sustainability into the strategic intent of our business benefitting society as a whole and accrued benefits to our internal and external stakeholders.

Our Sustainability and Social Responsibility Policy is aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals and our work is aligned towards activities that deliver the targets - Education, Good Jobs and Economic Growth, Gender Equality, Peace and Justice, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life on Land (SDGs 4, 8, 5, 16, 11, 13, 14, 15 respectively)

"Performance builds image, not the other way around … Reliability of performance is the most secure capital." – Shri Jit Paul.
