Lalit Kumar
Dr. Lalit Kumar is the Secretary, National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), with the Ministry of Home Affairs and was working as Joint Adviser (Voluntary Action), Planning Commission - looking after policy issues relating to voluntary sector at the national level for about 18 years. He is the main architect of drafting the National Policy for the Voluntary Sector, approved by the Union Cabinet. In addition to his charge of Voluntary Sector, he acted as Special Officer to the Minister of State for Planning (2004 to 2008), assisting him in all technical matters relating to the Planning Commission and in reviewing flagship programs in different districts of the country.

Lalit joined the Foundation in February 2009 and is currently busy revamping its functioning with a new Vision and has already organized successful Seminars, Interfaith dialogues and Rallies on Communal Harmony & National Integration at several places in the country.He holds Ph.D (Anthropology) from the University of Delhi and an M.Sc. (Economics) - Social Development, from the University of Wales, Swansea, UK. He has done Post-Doctoral Research at the University of Arizona, Tucson, USA during January 1989 to June 1990 on “Federal Policy for Native Americans” and was a Senior Philanthropy Fellow at Center for Civil Society Studies, institute of policy Studies, Johns Hopkins University (JHU), Baltimore, USA during September-December, 2003. Member of various academic associations Lalit was on the Board of the International Society for Third Sector Research (ISTR) during 2000-04.
