EMPLOYEE VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM OF THE YEAR

Volunteering @ Bharti Airtel  
 
Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises was established with the vision “To help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential”. The Satya Bharti School Program is the flagship program of Bharti Foundation to provide free quality education to rural, underprivileged children, with a special focus on the girl child.
 

At Bharti Airtel (Airtel), employees are encouraged to look beyond their professional responsibilities and contribute one paid day in the year towards a social cause. Employee Volunteering thus forms an imperative component of the ACT program, giving people an opportunity to make a difference and touch people's lives.

Bharti Airtel Volunteering Policy encourages employees to volunteer with a charity of their choice. They can choose to either volunteer on-site or off-site, contributing in their area of expertise.

For onsite volunteering, the employees spend a day interacting with the children at any of the Satya Bharti Schools, participating in Community Service, School Competitions, Story Telling, Games Sessions, Knowledge Sharing on important values, etc. The employees also volunteer to mentor students from various universities/institutes who are sponsored by Bharti Foundation/Airtel.

Some Unique Volunteering programs:

Employees volunteered for a 26 week module for teaching English to the Satya Bharti School teachers, through a telephone-based program to improve their English language skills.

36 Young Leaders of airtel volunteered for 15 days at Satya Bharti Schools in Punjab living the Airtel values “alive, inclusive and respectful”. The volunteers shared their knowledge and experience and actively participated in the operational aspects at the schools mentoring teachers, enhancing existing processes and also creating a deeper local connect with the parents and the communities at large.

Airtel also launches various initiatives to save environment like plantation drives and cleaning of the rivers etc. Employees and senior leadership participate in disaster management by helping and setting up helplines, PCOs during any natural disaster or in times of turmoil like bomb blasts, floods etc. Blood donation camps are held across the country where every year 500 -600 employees donate blood.

A unique offsite Management Board meeting is organized near one of the Satya Bharti School locations wherein the senior management volunteers at Satya Bharti Schools and interacts with the village heads and community followed by business deliberation.
