Alternative Healing Programmes
In collaboration with the Art of Living Foundation, we organized a session of ´Nav Chetna Shivir,´ which in other words means Awakening to a New Reality, for the employees of the Hyde Road Kolkata Factory .
Health at Work
With a view towards employee well–being at work, Typhoo signed up with the Public Health Responsibility Deal, Department of Health, UK, for Health at Work.Typhoo´s Health at Work pledge covered areas like occupational health standards, wellbeing reports, staff health checks, dissuasion of smoking and mental health issues.
Goodwill Amongst Co-workers
We believe that in an organization, the small gestures of goodwill between colleagues go a long way in creating a workplace full of positive energy, which in turn helps employees work together .
Football Cup in Our Assam Plantations
In Assam, we have 17 plantations spread across 50,000 acres that form the Apeejay Tea Group and to nurture a feeling of togetherness, we organized the Centenary Football Tournament in our Assam Plantations.
Centenary Festival of Ideas
In 2010, a pan-India Festival of Ideas was organised for employees of all Group companies to understand how they would like the Management Group to commemorate the 100th-year milestone
Know Thy Sister Concern
Know thy Sister Concern was an event that introduced employees of one company to employees of affiliated companies in order to instil in them a sense of understanding of the breadth of the Group that they work for.
Sit Back and Relax
In 2010, we added a Reading Room to our Kolkata facilities, to give our employees a relaxing space where they could take a break. The books and magazines list of the Reading Room spans across a variety of subjects and runs into many hundreds.
Apeejay Long Service Awards
In 2010, all company employees were brought together on a common Group Awards Platform. The Group Long Service Awards were a special award instituted in the Centenary year to reward every person who had completed 10 years or more in the Group.
Cross-Company Bonding
Two months after the successful "Know thy Sister Concern" initiative in Kolkata, a similar one was undertaken on July 17th, 2010 for our Mumbai-based employees working in Tea, Shipping, Real Estate, Oxford, and Corporate Services divisions.
The Quizzing Marathon
Inquizitive, the Intra-company Learning and Quiz Club have become a fun landmark in the Group´s Events calendar. In 2010, Inquizitive managers answered the Centenary Celebrations Committee´s call and turned it into a rollercoaster 30–day affair of intense quizzing across all Apeejay locations, pan-India.
New Hires Buddy Up
Apeejay devised a Buddy Scheme that would help the new member adjust to the company´s culture and build personal relationships with co-workers. The Buddy Scheme helped spread goodwill across the Group and it also rewarded those who volunteered.

The Apeejay Surrendra Group has had a bustling Intranet since 2001 and over the years has grown into a single–window for internal communication and an HR Portal for many group companies.
