Giving a Voice to the Disabled
Apeejay has tried to help those afflicted with cerebral palsy and therefore, we explored the possibilities with Avaz, an assistive device that can give an artificial voice to a child with cerebral palsy .
Improved Mobility and Access
Apeejay has funded the distribution of several motorized vehicles designed with their specific needs to physically challenged persons under a Motorized and Vehicle Distribution programme started in 1992 by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.
Empowering Through Mobility
In collaboration with our partner NGO Ananda Mela, we distributed 50 tricycles to people with disability in Haldia. To us, this was just a reiteration of our commitment to organizations working on mobility for the disabled .
In Support of Hearing Health
With a view to enabling the early detection of deafness, the Apeejay Trust, in partnership with Pratibandhi Kalyan Kendra, an NGO from Hooghly, West Bengal, created Project Dhwani.
Our Policy of Inclusion
Apeejay believes and promotes equal opportunity for people of all abilities and strives to nurture diversity of workforce and have taken on board interns from Pratibandhi Kalyan Kendra and from the Silence Training Institute.
The Light Within
In association with the Bengal Chamber for Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Apeejay Group advocated the idea of expanding employment opportunities for visually impaired manpower resources.
Infrastructure Upgrade
Apeejay has been continuously supporting and finding Prerana, is a cross–disability educational centre that houses a school, a hostel and a training centre for children, adolescents and women with disabilities.
Addressing Mental Health
Apeejay Trust joined 99 others in an initiative to pool together enough funds for The Banyan´s National Mental Health Coalition. that lead to an aggressive branding and marketing of mental health as an issue that needs attention.
Sports for All
Typhoo, began its partnership with Federation of Disability Sportto make sports more accessible to disabled people in the UK through "Sports for All" project which set out to train 500 sports coaches .
