"The Right to Play" is organized by our NGO Partners, Cini Asha and Focus, Kolkata Police and multiple other agencies that work with street children and victims of child labour. The purpose is to emphasize that all children, no matter how they live and where they live, have a right to play. The events use the power of sports to develop qualities of leadership and self-esteem in the children and also bring in an appreciation for a healthy lifestyle. 80 children from the Anand Paul Education Support Programme also participated in this initiative in 2010 since they too, are children from the urban slums and are in danger of dropping out of the education system and becoming a part of the child-labour workforce.
