In 2010 the 42.2 km (Men) Kolkata Marathon was a social development initiative that benefited the athletes of West Bengal. The sporting prize of Rs. 11 lakhs was tagged as the highest prize money offered to Indian marathon runners. We co-sponsored the Marathon and we were very proud to see that along with thousands and thousands of Kolkatans and athletes, 100s of our own employees based in Kolkata and 10s of Apeejay School children and faculty ran the marathon for the 4.2 km special Apeejay Surrendra 100 Years Celebration Run.
