Working directly with Chairperson Emeritus Shirin Paul as well as well as other members of the Paul Family , our leaders have created various innovative social Interventions funded by Apeejay Trusts especially in the area of Education where notable investments towards creating and supporting knowledge institutions have been made.
Ms. Rita Chatterjee, Principal and Administrator, Apeejay Schools
Rita Chatterjee, presently the Administrator and the Principal of Apeejay Schools Kolkata had done her Masters in English and then did her M.Ed from Calcutta University. She had a rewarding journey through the school system of learning and teaching for more than two decades. Her initial teaching spree had evolved into a solemn educator through the years of her working with Apeejay in various academic capacities. Many of her successful students endorse the mentorship that she has perfected in her self while spending time with diverse students. Her approach towards education is an open ended inclusive education system. She has always emphasised on hands on learning experiences and has generated an atmosphere of active learning in her school. Project method, educational trips, seminars and symposiums are her favourite tools of education. CCE has strengthened her belief in the system that she had promoted and promulgated till date. Her extraordinary quality of delivering the known in an outlandish way had always mesmerised the recipients. She is a great orator and a profound speaker and consequently has conducted various workshops and has represented the teaching fraternity in various conferences and discussions at all levels. She has recently conducted workshops on CCE for principals from different CBSE schools in West Bengal.
Ms. Rita Chatterjee has been conferred the Award for Best Mentor in 2012 by Central Board of Secondary Education. She is also a Master Trainer under the said Board for various workshops for which she has to travel widely all over the country and abroad. She was recently nominated by the Central Board of Secondary Education to be a part of the Indian Delegation to China with the purpose of interviewing Chinese Teachers meant to teach Chinese as third language in Schools in India.
Ms. Shikha Mukherjee, CSR Advisor
Shikha Mukherjee is Advisor, Corporate Social Responsibility and directly oversees the Anand Paul Education Support Programme in Kolkata for under privileged children and Apeejay Tea’s CSR and Sustainability programmes. The prestigious The Paul Foundation scholarships programme for academic excellence was started by her. She completed her Master of Arts from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1977 and joined The Times of India Group in 1978. She headed the launch of The Times of India edition in Kolkata and remained Political Editor of The Times of India till 2001. By virtue of her illustrious academic background, professional expertise and commitment to development issues, Shikha has taken the Anand Paul Education Support Programme in Kolkata, for under privileged children and Apeejay Tea’s CSR and Sustainability programmes from strength to strength.
Mr. Bhuvan G.M, Professor & Principal, Apeejay Institute of Hospitality
Bhuvan.G.M. An alumnus of Christ College, Bangalore, Mr. Bhuvan is a Graduate in Hotel Management , Post Graduate in Tourism & Human Resources and also holds an M.Phil degree in Tourism . He has more than 19 years of experience in hospitality academics and administration. A member of various academic and industry fora, Mr. Bhuvan has also organized, participated in, and published several papers in National and International Seminars.He was part of the two member committee to formulate and develop Model Curriculum for 4 year BHM programme of AICTE,New Delhi. Also,he was a member of the NAAC peer team ,former Chairman of Adhoc Board of Studies,Bangalore University and presently member of Adhoc Board of Studies,University of Mumbai .He is the Past President of Rotary Club of New Bombay Hill Side,Navi Mumbai .A representative of GSE (Group Study Exchange) "Team India" to United Kingdom, sponsored by Rotary International, Mr. Bhuvan is passionate about Hospitality Research, Economics, Strategic Management, Cross Cultural Dynamics, and Management of Change .Mr Bhuvan has attended Professional Development Programmes(PDP) in Strategic Management and Strategic Leadership from Cornell University,Ithaca,New York,USA. He comes with the rich experience of heading the Hotel Management Degree Program at Christ college, Bangalore.
He was featured among the Top 100 most influential people in the Hospitality Industry 2013 by Hotelier India published in September 2013.
