Mr. A. K. Bhargava, Managing Director, Apeejay Tea Limited
Ashok Bhargava is Managing Director of Apeejay Tea Limited and heads Apeejay Typhoo Tea business in India. An alumnus of London Business School where he completed the Senior Executive programme with distinction, Ashok joined Apeejay Tea in 1977 as a Trainee Assistant Manager. He became the youngest Manager in 1986 and was inducted on the board as Director Operations in 2000. He has been a key member of the team, responsible for transformation of the Apeejay Tea into a producer of superior quality teas. Ashok also heads the Apeejay Typhoo tea business in India. He leads his team from the front, aligning them with the company's vision and inspiring them to deliver their very best. Ashok is an avid golfer.
Mr. Somnath Saha, Chief Executive Officer, Typhoo Tea Limited
Somnath was appointed as Chief Executive in January 2015. He joined Typhoo in 2009 as Finance Director ; Has over 19 years of experience worked at different senior Commercial role in India and Europe for Usha Martin Group, Brunton Shaw UK and Britannia Industry, prior to this. He has immense general business and management knowledge for running business globally.
Mr. Ashoke Ghosh, Director Finance, Apeejay Tea Limited
Ashoke Ghosh is Director Finance, Apeejay Tea Limited as well as holds the portfolio of Director Corporate Finance, Apeejay Surrendra Group. A qualified Chartered Accountant and a Company Secretary , Ashoke is responsible for finances of the all Group companies. His academic brilliance and professional experience spanning more than two decades makes him a key member of the Group Management. He moved to Apeejay Surrendra Corporate Services in 2000, after a 12-year stint with India Foils Ltd, as their GM and Secretary. An avid rower, Mr Ghosh has a passion for sports and music.
Mr. Vijay Dewan, Managing Director, Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels
Mr. Vijay Dewan is the Managing Director of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels, India’s first and only collection of luxury boutique hotels. Mr. Dewan is responsible for overall hotel operations, business strategy formulation, overseeing marketing operations and planning sustainable growth for the hotels.
In 1991, Mr. Dewan joined The Park Hotels in Kolkata, and soon took over as General Manager. It was under his efficient and able management that The Park Kolkata experienced its dramatic turnaround. Thereafter he was appointed Vice President and subsequently became the Managing Director in 2003. His effective leadership, direction and vision have helped The Park Hotels to achieve and maintain its niche leadership position as a collection of luxury boutique hotels.
Mr. Dewan has a Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry and a Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management with over 28 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He has undergone several professional courses from Cornell University, London Business School and The Harvard Business School.
Mr Dewan is on the Board of Governors of the Institute of Hotel Management and a Managing Committee Member of the Federation of Hotel & Restaurants Association of India. He is also a member of the State Council, Confederation of Indian Industry.
Based out of Kolkata, Mr. Dewan is an avid golfer and finds it the ultimate relaxant.
Mr. Deepak Bali, Vice President, Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels
Deepak Bali is Vice President of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels, where he is responsible for all Projects, engineering and modernization of existing facilities. Deepak is a thorough professional, hardworking and has a quick understanding of the Projects undertaken and comes up with practical and innovative solutions. Deepak has a Bachelors of Engineering (Marine) and is a fellow of Institute of Marine Engineering (Indian Chapter) has done specialization in project management and Hotel Planning and Design from Cornell University, USA. He has 39 years experience. He started his career with Shipping Corporation of India and later on with an Anglo- Norwegian Company as a Chief Engineer.In 1987, he moved to The Park Hotels as a Chief Engineer and was located at The Park New Delhi. He was promoted to corporate Chief Engineer in 1992 for all the Park Hotels in India. He was appointed Vice President of The Park Hotels in 1994. Twenty three years, in the hotel industry has given him an in-depth perspective on the design and planning of the modern day hotels. He thrives on information and believes in constantly updating his skills, which saw him, undergo several professional courses including industrial Engineering, Planning and design course from Cornell University. He has been regularly attending International Hospitality Exhibitons and Hi-Design Conferences. Based at New Delhi, Deepak is an avid sportsman.
Mr. S. S. Mahapatra, Chief Executive Officer, Apeejay Shipping Limited
Capt Shekhar. S. Mahapatra is Chief Executive Officer of Apeejay Shipping Limited. He is a Fellow of the Indian Council Of Arbitration and on the panel of ICA’s shipping arbitrators; a member of the Nautical Institute (London) and the Company of Master Mariners here in India. He has been lecturing (since 1997) on commercial shipping as a visiting faculty in various institutes (Mumbai’s LBS College for Advanced Maritime Studies and Research, Mumbai Marine Training Institute, Kolkata's Indian Institute of Port Management). He moved to Apeejay Shipping Limited in 2004 after a 30 year stint with Great Eastern Shipping where he started his sea career as a cadet in 1974, sailed on various types of ships for 13 years and was in shore based management of their large fleet for 17 years.
Mr. Swagat Sengupta, Chief Executive Officer, Apeejay Oxford Bookstores Private Limited
Swagat Sengupta is CEO, Apeejay Oxford Bookstores Private Limited (AOBPL). A graduate in Commerce from Calcutta University, Swagat joined AOBPL in 2000 as Sales Executive and went on to become National Manager – Merchandising. During his tenure, he was involved in setting up Oxford Bookstore at Churchgate, Mumbai; Goa; Leela Palace Bangalore and Statesman House, Delhi. He also held a key profile in the launch of the bookstore’s online portal www.oxfordbookstore.com as Category-in Charge and Back-end Head. In 2013, he rejoined AOBPL as Country Head – Operations and Purchase and was involved in the launch of Oxford Bookstore, Connaught Place. With a rich and diverse career in the retail industry spanning 22 years, Swagat has held various key positions in the areas of operations, merchandising and business development at AOBPL, Globe Publications, Penguin Books India, Music World, Reliance Entertainments Limited and Spencers Retail Limited.
Mr. Divesh Kumar, Director Human Resource, Apeejay Surrendra Group
Mr. Divesh Kumar is Director Human Resource at Apeejay Surrendra Group. A Post Graduate in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi Divesh spearheads the Human Resource Development function at Apeejay Surrendra Group.
Rich and diverse experience, Leadership development at all levels and managing distinctive aspirations of a diverse set of people are Divesh's strength. He also is a certified Business Excellence Model assessor with Performance Grade ‘A’- Gold Standard in A Business Excellence Leaders Programme.
Mr. Kumar began his career with A Steel and has worked there in various capacities. In a career spanning over 24 years Mr. Kumar has worked with Callderys India, Imerys, Jusco and A NYK Shipping. Divesh has passion for sports, Golf in particular, music and reading.
Mr. Rajendra Agarwal, Director Finance New Projects & Diversification, Apeejay Surrendra Group
Rajendra Agarwal is Director Finance, New Projects & Diversification, Apeejay Surrendra Group. A rank holder Chartered Accountant (ICAI), Cost Accountant (ICWA) & Company Secretary, Rajendra is in-charge of financial and commercial inputs to the Group’s new Initiatives viz Shipyards and Logistics JVs and he also oversees financial systems at Typhoo Tea Limited. He joined Apeejay in 2009 after spending 13 years heading many global positions for Arcellor Mittal. Rajendra is an active sportsman and has played Cricket for his school and College.
Mr. Subhashish Saha, Chief Technology Officer, Apeejay Surrendra Group
Subhasish Saha is Chief Technology Officer, Apeejay Surrendra Group. An alumnus of Indian Statistical Institute he is responsible for driving end to end IT management practices and implementation including telecommunication across group companies. Subhasish is instrumental in demonstrating IT beyond a rigid technology-only focus to deliver business growth and create competitive advantage. A Post Graduate in Computer Science and a certified ITIL professional, Subhasish has prior to Apeejay an experience of working with Hindustan Levers for 18 years responsible for building end to end IT management practices in the area of both IT infrastructure and applications through business Process re-engineering, business analysis, streamlining sales & commercial, supply chain processes and B2B connectivity and systems development & implementation. Experienced in nation-wide full life cycle SAP implementation in the area of CRM, manufacturing, demand planning and supply planning implementation, Subhasish has a passion for sports and makes time to pursue Swimming and Badminton.
Ms. Renu Kakkar, Vice President, Corporate Communications
Renu Kakkar is Vice President Corporate Communications, Apeejay Surrendra Group and is an alumnus of Lady Sri Ram College and IIMC. She joined the Financial Services division as a manager in 2000 backed with her experience as a career finance journalist. Renu has moved through various operations and holds an additional charge of heading the Corporate Software Development cell, a Group capability she created in 2001. Prior to joining Apeejay, she was Assistant Editor with The Telegraph. Renu has the distinction of being the youngest reporter at 21 years investigating the biggest stock market scandal of the early 1990s for the Financial Express. Diversity keeps her challenged and allows her to have fun at work.
Mr. Debangshu Mukherjee, CEO and Director of Apeejay Insurance Broking Services Private Limited
Debangshu Mukherjee has 25 years of experience in the Insurance sector, spanning areas such as Underwriting, Claim management, Risk analysis and valuation. He has joined the group in 2004 and specializes in claim management services and survey processes and has serviced client nationally and internationally. Debangshu is an avid Indian classical music fan and prefers indoor games.
Mr. Rajiv Kumar Ranjan, Chief Operating Officer, Apeejay Infralogistics Private Limited
Mr. Rajiv Kumar Ranjan joined Apeejay Infralogistics Private Limited as Chief Operating Officer in 2012. Rajiv is a Graduate from Ranchi University. He has done Management Development Programme on “Team building and Leadership Management" from IIM Bangalore and Finance Programme for non-financial Executives . Currently he is pursuing Executive MBA from IIM Kolkata. He has more than 18 years of experience in Logistics. He started his career with Sterling group. Thereafter he joined Gati and held various positions in his stint spanning over 10 years with them. At Gati he has been awarded as Best Branch Manager in India in the year 2000 and he was the key person for establishing domestic operation setup in Nepal and setting up international office in Hongkong. Prior to joining Apeejay he was associated with TNT (I) Pvt. Ltd as a Regional Director (East) in Kolkata. During his tenure in TNT he was Platinum Club winner in 2009 and his region was awarded as “The Region of the Quarter” twice in the same year and also winner of the "Region of the year". In Year 2010 East Region is awarded as a "Best Region" in terms of Risk Management & Financial Practices. At TNT he was the project team member for the integration and Merger of Speedage. He is married and has one son and one daughter. He has keen interest in sports like cricket, football, tennis & Music.
Mr. Admiral Tiwari, Managing Director, Bengal Shipyard Limited
Ajit Tewari is Managing Director of Bengal Shipyard Limited, a joint venture between Apeejay Shipping Limited and Bharati Shipping Limited. After having served with distinction in the Navy for 34 years, he took premature retirement from the navy in the rank of Rear Admiral in February 2004 while serving as ACNS(P&P) and joined Hindustan Shipyard Ltd as the Chairman and Managing Director on 03 February 2004. During his tenure, the Shipyard’s orderbooks and deliveries in shipbuilding and shiprepairs surpassed past 60 year records making HSL India’s leading public sector yard. He has also held additional charge as the Director National Ship Design and Research Centre (NSDRC) , as member of Board of Directors of Indian Register of Shipping ; member of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Det Norske Veritas and the South Asian Advisory Committee of Llyods Register of Shipping and Chairman of the Indian Shipbuilders Association (ISBA). An NDA Alumni, Rear Admiral Tiwari was commissioned in the Indian Navy in 1969 and served in a number of key appointments both in India and abroad. He took part in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, the IPKF operations in Sri Lanka and Operation Vijay in Western Naval Command and has been awarded AVSM for distinguished services and NM and Mention-in-dispatches for gallantry in action. He is also a graduate of the NSC, Rhode Island, USA, NDC New Delhi and MSc (Defence Studies) from Madras University. In addition he has undergone Electronic Warfare course in Germany in 1986 and National Security course at Galillee College, Haifa, Israel (2001). Rear Admiral Ajit Tewari is a keen golfer with a handicap of 13.

A hands on professional with strengths on marketing, business creation, he has worked with the Godrej Group, Shaw Wallace, Godfrey Phillips, HMV EMI, and Duncans Industries.
At each of the companies, his contribution have been notable in terms of multifold business growth, market share and brand equity.
